PARTICIPANTS WANTED FOR COMMUNITY BETTERMENT SELF-CARE STUDY

Do you or someone you know carry a lot of stress, worry, and/or tightness in your physical, mental, or emotional body? Do you wish you could hit the pause button and relax at a deeper level? Have you ever received or practiced self-care consistently?

Consider applying for this 6-week guided Self-Care Study, part of a continuing Community Betterment Program conducted utilizing Thai Yoga Massage methodology.

WHAT IS THAI YOGA MASSAGE?

Thai Yoga Therapy is an ancient healing art based on the principles of compassion. It provides deep bodywork in a flowing, moving meditation, leaving the client feeling invigorated and restored. It incorporates many different techniques such as massage, energy line work, reflexology, and yoga.

PARTICIPANT CRITERIA

Clinical depression.

Individuals who have been diagnosed with and struggle daily with clinical depression.

Elite Athletes.

Individuals who physically train their bodies at a high level for fitness, competition, or sports purposes 5-6 days a week.

High levels of stress or recent trauma.

Individuals who live at a 10 stress level on a daily basis. (On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the greatest amount of stress. Examples include going through a divorce, loss of a job, or other traumatic events.)

Individuals who live with chronic pain at a level between 5-10.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being debilitating pain 1 being almost no pain.

Healers and caregivers in the community.

Individuals who are ready to do some deep self-care work.

*Many of these characteristics overlap in our lives, however, this study is designed specifically for individuals who lean more strongly toward one of these categories, rather than a little bit of them all.

STUDY COMPONENTS

The Self-Care Study consists of receiving a 1-hour Thai Yoga Massage once a week for 6 weeks. After each session, you will be asked to fill out a survey, observe subtle changes you may be experiencing, record a daily log, and participate in video interviews to help document and share the process. Journaling is also highly recommended. For those newer to the journaling process, prompts will be provided.

TIME COMMITMENT
The time commitment will be about 5-20 min a day for self-study, plus one 1.5 hour Thai Yoga Massage session per week.

COST
This study is part of a Community Betterment Program and is therefore offered at no cost to participants.

LOCATION
This study takes place in Beaumont, California. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from each session.
